Nod For Project To Cut Waste Flow Into Yamuna

The Delhi Cabinet has given its approval for the Rs.1, 358-crore Yamuna interceptor sewer project that seeks to cut pollution in the river.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit explained after the Cabinet meeting that under the project 59 km of interceptor sewers would be constructed along three major drains and seven pumping stations will be set up to intercept and carry the waste water to the sewage treatment plants so that treated effluent is discharged into the Yamuna......

KWA Completes A Slew Of Potable Water Projects

The Kerala Water Authority KWA has said the work on the Rs 5.58crore Chellanam potable water project was progressing and the Rs 32.20crore project, covering Elamkunnapuzha, Njarakkal and Nairambalam panchayats, has already begun.

The KWA has got the permission to start the Rs 17crore project for the benefit of Kadamakkutty and Varapuzha panchayats the Rs 5crore project for Udayamperoor, Amballoor and Edakkatuvayal panchayats; and the Rs 4.26crore project for Nellikuzhi and Payipra panchayats......

No New Water Connections Till 2011

The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board BWSSB have decided not to sanction fresh water connections to multi-storeyed residential and commercial apartments within its limits till 2011 end. The reason they have come up with is severe water scarcity. However, the BWSSB will continue to sanction new connections to single unit residential building in its limits. The board is presently supplying water to about 125 wards of the BBMP old 100 BMP wards and 25 other wards falling in the newly added areas of BBMP......

Steps Taken To Solve Water Crisis

The district authorities would come up with short-term plans to solve drinking water problem in the city, said district collector J. Shyamala Rao.

Conducting a meet here on Monday, the collector said, “The main issues plaguing the district are lack of drinking water in the city, swine flu and malaria in the Agency areas. The district administration is fully focused on these issues and would soon come up with short term plans for keeping them at bay.”.....

Villagers Demand Supply Of Drinking Water

Demanding drinking water supply to their hamlet, a group of Kaalaankarai villagers submitted petition to Collector G. Prakash on Monday.

The petitioners said they, who were getting drinking water from Srivaikuntam Combined Drinking Water Scheme, were not getting water for the past 20 days. Though they had informed the officials about its problem, no action was taken to restore drinking water supply. Hence, they wanted the Collector to instruct the officials to restore drinking water supply to Kaalaankarai......
