40-crore Water Plan For Jaipur, Ajmer

The Rajasthan Government Water Resources Department on Monday formulated an emergency plan worth Rs.40 crore for supplying drinking water to Jaipur and Ajmer districts till the next month-end. The department decided to make optimum utilisation of the available sources to maintain normal levels of water supply.

At a high-level meeting presided over by Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna here, senior officers and engineers said the delay in monsoon rains had made the water supply situation “very critical” in the State, which was already grappling with paucity of water......

State Allots 1,214.26 Cusecs Of Water To Industries

The State government has allotted 1,214.26 cusecs of water from different river systems to industries with which it has signed Memorandum of Understandings for setting up of steel, power, cement and aluminium projects.

As per the written reply tabled on behalf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the State government has signed MoU with 86 companies, of which permission to draw water from rivers has been granted for 45 projects......

Age Of Slums Is Why BMC Hesitates To Remove Settlers Around Water Mains

More than a year after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC came up with a project to protect the water mains and the adjoining municipal land from encroachments, barely 7 per cent of the total work has been completed.

Of the total encroached area of 1.42 lakh square metres adjacent to water pipelines, reservoirs and pumping stations identified by the hydraulic engineering department, only 10,000 square metres of such land has been cleared until now......

Lake Levels Rising, But Water Cut To Continue

But, the bad news is that the administration will not risk withdrawing the 15% water cut, imposed across the city last year, till July 15. The civic authorities are expecting that by then, around 8 lakh million litres of water would have accumulated in the reservoirs......

Mumbaikars residing in high-rises will soon have to switch their water consumption patterns so that residents of smaller housing societies get their quota of the municipal water supply.

Law committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC, on Tuesday, unanimously approved by-laws that make recycling of grey water wastewater mandatory for all high-rises, which have sufficient space to create a wastewater collection and recycling plant......
