Water And Sewage Treatment Plant Inaugurated In Rajkot

A Rs 30 crore water treatment plant, which will ensure regular supply to residents of five wards situated in new Rajkot, was dedicated to the public here on Wednesday by Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

It was Modi who had laid the foundation stone of the plant. He also inaugurated a sewage treatment plant constructed at a cost of Rs 16.78 crore in Raiyya. Among others, finance minister Vaju Vala, urban development minister Saurabh Patel, Vijay Rupani and mayor Sandhya Vyas were present on the occasion. Later in the evening, Modi attended a function arranged by local Hirani family.

Modi also gave away cheques to beneficiaries of various welfare schemes of government to people in Amreli district. The ‘Garib Kalyan Melo’ programme kicked off from Amreli district as part of reaching out to actual beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.

According to officials, government will hold 50 such ‘fairs’ across the state, covering 25 lakh poor people.

On Wednesday, people from six talukas in Amreli were present to accept the cheques. About 63,080 beneficiaries of 64 welfare schemes were given away cheques totalling Rs 120.69 crore. At Palitana, which was the CM’s first stop in the morning, he distributed prosthetics to 30,000 physically challenged children. The programme was organized by a local Jain organisation.
